Private Wilderness Experience
OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA

2026 Departues:
Trip1: 24 July - 7 Aug / Trip2: 21 Aug - 7 Sept / Trip3: 25 Sept - 9 Oct

In collaboration with Natucate and African Guide Academy

14-DAYS OF EXPLORING THE OKAVANGO
BY VEHICLE, DUGOUT AND ON FOOT

Alan will be co-leading this unique experiential adventure based from an exclusive destination in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. This in collaboration with our industry partner NATUCATE.COM and our daughter Meg McSmith, who is Natucate's specialist guide and project manager.

Based from an intimate tented camp located on the Xwapa River, with all activities set within a vast private concession well known for producing memorable big game encounters. During the 2023 departure, our mammal count produced 35 different species, with numerous encounters with the legendary wild dog pack of the region. Lion and leopard are also usually encounters as well as iconic elephant herds, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and a wide array of antelope. Birdlife is staggering with possible sightings of Okavango rarities such as wattle crane.

The camp consists of Meru walk-in tents with outdoor but ensuite bathrooms, each fitted with a flush loo and legendary bucket shower. With a limited occupancy, the wilderness experience offers an exclusive peek into the rhythms and systems of the Okavango Delta, one of the most mysterious inland deltas in the world. July, set in the southern hemisphere winter or dry season, coincides with the flood waters in the Okavango, which offer life and sustenance to a myriad of animal, bird and plant life. It is truly one of nature's most enigmatic ecological systems.

Game drives (and night drives) as well as highly recommended walking trails depart twice daily in search of the Okavango's big game, or following up with special interest themes, or animal behaviour topics. The scope of the activities ensures a broad range of special interests, exciting encounters and opportunities of discovery along the way!
